Iran Reports Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Counterattacks.

Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is uncertain and the United States has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with high efficiency and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.

It said debris landed in a populated district in the capital, causing some property damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
