Well, perhaps an Ashes series in Australia where they remain in contention to win back the Ashes once the opening games are done.

This is not the case on this occasion, however, after a comprehensive 82-run win in Adelaide gave Australia leading three-nil for the fourth consecutive series on their own soil.

The loyal traveling fans, England's supporters' group, have 3,000 fans flying out for the concluding fixtures in the SCG and MCG.

There are also organized trips who will spend the Christmas period in Australia, as well as loved ones planning a special expedition.

The Ryding Siblings

The Ryding siblings are among those affected.

The four siblings had their flights and tickets secured for the Boxing Day and New Year Tests "well ahead of time", hoping to witness a historic English victory.

Sadly, they've observed Australia outplay the visitors in just 11 days from their family home in the north of England.

"People in the office has been making comments regarding the concluded contest for the last two weeks," said Sam.

"The hope was that we would have a meaningful contest by the time we arrived."

Fading Positivity

Optimism was high about England's chances of breaking a 15-year drought for a triumph on Australian soil prior to the first ball.

However, the situation is now facing the prospect of prolonging a streak without victory in the country to 19 games when the Boxing Day Test begins in Melbourne this week.

One sibling noted the "entertainment" of head coach the positive style of play in recent years had "reinvigorated" the five-day game for followers of the team.

However, the group said they had minimal hopes for the fourth and fifth Tests - and all they are asking for from the players is "some resilience".

The Remaining Matches

When questioned if he believed England will triumph in a Test in the current series, Sam said: "It looks like the Aussies are just too good currently."

"It will require several individuals that makes a significant contribution and makes a big impact."

Despite the scoreline, the group remains anticipating the trip.

"We will have a great time regardless," added another sibling. "We must adopt that outlook."

"Naturally, it's unfortunate we aren't fighting for more, but we have spent so much money already."

"We will make the most of having Christmas and New Year out there. It is also mine and Rory's first time traveling at this time of year."

An educator, Katie is determined to make the most of the lengthy journey as part of her Christmas holidays.

"Should the cricket disappoint, I can play golf to fall back on," she finished.
